When it seems that all the online business ideas are saturated the solution seems simple. Start offline! You've become pretty comfortable in Internet marketing; now profit by passing that knowledge on to companies in your community who still don't make use of this necessary marketing venue. With the things you've already learned plus these additional bits of advice you'll soon be pulling in some extra cash by providing a service that helps these offline businesses market more effectively. Everyone wins, including your neighborhood!
Create Online Marketing Ideas from Offline Marketing Successes
The use of print coupons is a popular and successful offline marketing technique. The downside is the cost of printing the coupons, most of which won't be clipped or used. As a professional online marketer you can improve on the coupon concept strip if of its hardcopy costs, and display it to many more potential buyers than ever saw the old-style print coupons. Simply include the URL of an online coupon in your other offline or online advertising. That way the customer can
always find the current coupons, and the smaller printing costs mean greater profits for the offline business.
Another offline favorite is yellow pages advertising. A couple of decades ago these books resided in every home. Whenever you didn't know where to find something you needed, you went to the yellow pages. Today, that's just not enough. People don't use them nearly as much as they go to the Internet and search. So your local offline businesses need to add online telephone book sites to their more traditional yellow pages advertising.
Podcasts/Webinars
Providing free information as podcasts or videos is a great way to gain favor with customers. This is a cheap way to provide information about the business or it products to a targeted audience. For example, a tanning salon could provide podcast statistics on how to use tanning machines safely, alleviating any fears their potential clients may have. These businesses could make this video or podcast available for free from their website, encouraging viewers to use their place of business when they're looking to buy.
A regular series of pod casts can be used to build an mailing list for your videos Keeping these communications interesting and informative will keep your subscribers happy and buying.
And although we've been talking about ideas for your offline business clients, don't forget to put some of these ideas to work for yourself. You can create a podcast on the basics of online advertising for brick and mortar business owners! You could even hold live classes with demonstrations giving out resource lists and links for your students. You can take it a step further by hiring yourself out to these business owners to do the online marketing for them. Many won't want to learn and would rather pay someone like you to do it for them.
Business Blogs
A great way for an offline business to expand their reach is by blogging. Here is where their talents can reach a worldwide market. Your offline customers are already experts at something - you may need to show them how it can be used in a blog. They needn't be great writers, they just need to know their subject and be able to write on various sub-topics regularly.
The blog's purpose should be to build a good list of interested followers. Friendly interaction and lots of comments should be encouraged. A newsletter or other membership should be available for sign up in the blog. Promot a free giveaway to encourage sign up. This list can then be used for future email campaigns and specials.
Remember that your offline business customer isn't accustomed to your newfangled ways! They've come this far without it. As you start discussing these new concepts with your clients, don't eliminate the old. Instead incorporate the new into the old and your client's business will attract new customers while not losing any old regulars.
